The “SL9” variety has had quite the year. It’s informally known as “Inca Gesha” in part due to its intense Gesha-like florality, but has been revealed through genetic testing to be an Ethiopian Legacy variety that closely resembles Scott Laboratories “SL” varieties, in particular the SL09, though hopefully more is to come. Sey has been putting out some killer Peru SL9s this year, and we’ve been enjoying them, so our offering list would have felt incomplete without one. This particular varietal is light, sweet, floral, but will chameleon a bit with changes in the extraction and temperature; it comes from the Amaybamba region in Cusco, Peru. Some SL9s are big in the florality space like bergamot, jasmine, and citrus zest, but this one occupies a softer, sweeter space sort of like seeing an SL9 through a Pink Bourbon lens. It’s a really beautiful coffee.

This coffee was roasted by Sey in New York, and rested appropriately about 8 weeks before freezing. This coffee continues to open up as it ages, which is why we’ve intentionally aged them to near-peak before freezing. Coffees are thawed to order.
